Empower is built with Laravel, tailwindcss, and Hotwire. We recommend Redis for caching, Mailgun for emails, Stripe for payments, and PostgreSQL as the database. You can swap any package with your preferred alternatives.

System requirements & installation
Since Empower is software you install and host yourself, you’ll need a few things before you begin:
- Your own domain name. You’ll need to point the DNS to the IP address of the machine that’ll be hosting Writebook.
- A web server connected to the internet. This could be your own hardware or something hosted in the cloud like AWS, DigitalOcean, etc. All you need is 1GB RAM/1CPU.
- Some basic technical know-how. We’ll give you a single command to run from the terminal on your server that’ll be hosting Empower. It’ll set everything up for you from there, including the SSL certificate.
FAQs
When will it be ready?
Everybody who pre-ordered will receive access to the code, documentation and discord community on the 27th of january, 2025.
What do I receive?
You'll receive access to the directory boilerplate code, the documentation on how to customize and deploy your own directory business, and to our private Discord to connect with other directory builders.
What do you mean I have to host Empower?
Empower isn’t an app or service someone else runs. It’s a fully independent system that you run and host yourself. That means you install it on a server you own (or rent) and control. It requires some technical knowledge, but all-in-all it’s quite easy. If you can register a domain name, and change the DNS for that domain name, you can almost certainly handle the install and hosting process for Empower.
What is the stack?
Empower is built with Laravel, tailwindcss and Hotwire to sprinkle the front-end.
Can I use it with a different stack?
You can use any of your preferred drivers and packages available to Laravel.
What can I do and not do with the code?
You have the right to use the boilerplate code across an unlimited number of projects. If you sell a directory project, the rights and license to use the boilerplate code are transferred to the new owner under the existing terms. Reselling the boilerplate code on its own, separate from a project, is not allowed. Please action right with the software license.
How do I get updates to Empower software?
You will get update from the lastest version of Empower through our invite access repository.
Are native iOS and Android apps available?
No, Empower is web-based software. Apps and Tools will automatically be nicely formatted by Humans for users on the web on mobile devices.
Can we white label or resell Empower?
No. Please be sure to review the license agreement for further details.
Can we reuse any of the code in another product?
No. While you are free to review the code and make modifications to Empower for your own use, you can not use or repurpose the code for your own purposes outside Empower. Please be sure to review the license agreement for further details.
Can we modify Empower for our own purposes?
Yes, you can make whatever changes to the Laravel code that you’d like, but once you change the code from the included code, you’re on your own. Any updates might overwrite your changes as well.
Can I get a refund?
After you receive access to the code, Empower is yours, and I cannot offer a refund.
